My family and I are a very conventional brood. We always go to Imay's whenever there is a family occasion. So today, we were supposed to have a simple dinner at the same place after my sister's graduation rites.
When we arrived at the place, it was jam-packed! I think there were several graduations today which resulted to a stampede of people in restaurants and it is Saturday, at that.
So we opted to dine at the restaurant fronting Imay's. I haven't been in Bacolod for a time and I have heard from my sisters that restaurants sprout like mushrooms. So I thought I would do some quick updating of the different new restos during my 5-day stay.
This is the signage of Mely's Cafe which roughly means breakfast, lunch, dinner; postre, I am not sure, probably pastries, dessert? Pasalubong meaning take home treats.
I wish I had taken better photos to exude the vibe of the place but these are the only shots I have. They do not even justify the place. My apologies. The restaurant is nestled inside a large garden with ample parking.
The interior of the restaurant has a native touch.
The entrees are mostly Filipino and are affordable (On a side note, everything in Bacolod is affordable that's why I love going home so much!)
They even have a fresh corner for a variety of seafood which you can have them cook (ala dampa style).
We ordered grilled tanguige (or king mackerel 500 gms at only PHP252) --
And of course, Edzel's craving, Crispy Pata (crispy pork knuckles) --
And KBL (kadyos, baboy, langka), an Ilonggo staple (stew of pork, Congo or red peas and raw jackfruit) --

We spent around PHP2,000 for an eight-person meal with a steady supply of beer already for Pops and the boys. Not bad, right?
Mely's is open from 10:00 am to 10:00 pm. Please do not follow Google Map's directions to Mely's Garden. Directions will bring you to 17th street but it is actually on the 6th street.
