I always brace myself for Mondays. I try to baon some extra positivity and happier disposition to counter my Monday neutrons.
But this week, this Monday, I was happy. Because things turned out better than I imagined. I was able to resolve some long-term issues which I kept on putting off for a while. It was a heavy weight lifted upon my shoulders.
So now, yeah. I can now get through Mondays without losing it. :)
Hope your Mondays turned out wonderful, loves!

Hi Balot!
ReplyDeleteSo you figured it out, good for you! My focus is still a work in progress, needs tightening up. I think it's a good fit for you as well. About the assignments, I didn't do all of them yet either. I pick and choose according to interest and relevance. I think that as long as you learn the principles and lessons brainstem, you are good. :-)
Thanks for your writing tips, Balot. I really need them. Keep them coming. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Ms. Harvey. I learn new things lang everyday which is good because it is at my own pace. :) And I really missed writing so I am enjoying all my time now :)
ReplyDeleteoh i read about this somewhere online!!! been wanting to check it out myself. those dogs are soooo adorbs to look at!!!
ReplyDeleteLiz, you should go! The coffee and the menu selection left me wanting but.. who cares!!! Puppiessss! hahaha
ReplyDeleteI'm not successful at it yet, but I'm pretty sure that though my steps are small and my cards are...well, not at 4 Aces, I'm threading the right path.
ReplyDeleteGreat blog! And great site you've got there. Checking it out. ;)
Wow, and you've done a great job of curating your memories! You've been blogging for so long, virtually a veteran. I need lessons from you; off to read your post on how you discipline yourself to write!
ReplyDeleteI am, currently, in the process of starting up my own small business. I love my job and, as far as I'm concerned, I have no intentions of resigning soon; but having a small business will help me with my savings more and it's a step closer to having a secured financial future :)
ReplyDeletexoxo,
Gelleesh.com
Hi Gellie, thanks for dropping by. Yes, it is indeed a good back-up plan. Like you, when I started working, I scoffed at the idea of building my own business. I felt that it was so much of a hassle and that I am already secured with my career. However, you will never really know that the future will bring so it is good to be prepared :-)
ReplyDeleteHi, thanks May! I am enjoying your posts! <3 I would love to be a mom someday and I am learning about home-schooling and all. Hope you could connect me with other awesome moms like you, too! :-) God bless!
ReplyDeleteHave you joined the WAHMderful community and Mommy Bloggers Philippines yet? That's where I found awesome moms to connect to. ;)
ReplyDeleteYes Yes!! :-) Patty (Cuyugan) invited me, awesome group!
ReplyDeleteHahaha, nooo! I have been jumping from one area to another trying to look for what I really want to write about. After joining the Intentional Blogging Challenge, it has just become much clearer to me.. so.. I absolutely love your blog! It has full of heart <3 Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteWow, what a great idea for a cafe! So freaking cute as well!!! Love the look of the pupcakes!
ReplyDeleteInformative post and what a bittersweet poem at the end... it's very heartbreaking to lose a child, I know...
ReplyDeleteI pass by Dough It All all the time, and I never knew they had so many useful baking things in there. I'll go nga next time I'm in the area.
ReplyDeletePatty! When I first went there, I was buying boxes lang and gift tags for my shop. I wasn't keen at all to bake pa that time pero bigla kong gustong magbake because of all the "paraphernalia" there. Hahaha
ReplyDeleteWhen my mom has woes she also feels better when going in a shop like Dough-It-All :) We haven't been here yet, but I'm sure she'll love it! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteHi Ava! Yeah, I think these things are therapeutic in their own way. <3 Go and visit the shop, I am sure your mom will love it. If she has any awesome recipes to share with me, I would really appreciate it <3 Moms are the best!
ReplyDeletethis is a real nice blog post on surviving Monday. :) I do everything in this list also except for wake up early! LOL! But you do make a good point about that.
ReplyDeleteWaiting is a nightmare that we wish never to experience at all but praying and keeping our faith will somehow ease up the pain. Just remember that whatever you deserve will certainly come in time... in HIS time. GOD bless :)
ReplyDeletethe office recently distributed to all managers spiral notebooks. we are requested to do 7 days of journaling_ to practice the 7 quantum skills. today i wrote something about quantum trusting... that instead of struggling to control the forces of the universe, we trust that the universe will naturally deliver what is required. only when we decide to let go, that we actually open our arms to recieve our gift.
ReplyDeleteHang in there Balot! xoxo
ReplyDeleteI joined! ;)
ReplyDeleteThanks Joei! <3
ReplyDeleteWow Ms. Grace, that's something new -- managers keeping a journal? Interesting. Yeah, I keep on telling myself to let go. It is just really hard sometimes. But I am really trying. Thank you for dropping by.
ReplyDeleteThanks Marri. Yes, in HIS time. :)
ReplyDeleteYey! :) Hope to see you soon :)
ReplyDeleteMind if i ask why you should not drink coffee anymore? I'm in corporate world too but my Doctor advised me to stop drinking coffee because of Hyperhidrosis and compulsive palpitation. Not sure if that's your case too...
ReplyDeleteAnd i neither don't collect those planners at Starbucks. They look fancy and nice but the year is printed in the page. I seldom write and i prefer my Moleskin journal :)
Hi Otakore. In my case, my doctor asked me minimize and if possible to stop drinking coffee because it decreases fertility. I am trying to get pregnant and I have a condition called AntiPhospholipid Antibody Syndrome (APAS) where my immune system does not allow my pregnancy to progress. One way of boosting the immune system, as I was told, is to cleanse myself from caffeine, alcohol, nicotine, etc.
ReplyDeleteAs for the planners, haha, yes. I usually have another notebook for my to-do list. But the phones now really come in handy. It already serves as a one-stop gadget for everything :) Thanks for visiting! :)
thanks for these tips. as a budding blogger i find them necessary. yourdiamondintherough.weebly.com
ReplyDeleteWhen will I be promoted? Or why my salary increase isn't much?
ReplyDeleteRules: Don't ask. If you're really doing good and they didn't increase your salary much, shake them with passing a resignation letter. They'll give it ASAP. (happens to me; they really did) "there's no honest employer to an honest employee"
But if they didn't add more increase after passing your resignation letter, then perhaps, you're not really good. They're not satisfied with your performance... haha
But, did you notice when some of your employee slack off after being regularized? I observe much of them from my previous companies. You can't easily zapped them after being regularized (legal issues). The only way to clean them is by giving them a low increase. They will be forced to get out.
I miss Singapore. The foods (mei goreng, laksa, ice kachang, etc,). And those books! I haven't gone there but i see lot of art structures. Singapore is enriched with arts.
ReplyDeleteYes, everything you said is true. My boss once told me, the easiest job of a manager is to promote deserving people. Don't you agree? :)
ReplyDeleteI agree to most of what's written on your post. I've been in our company for almost 3 years now and promotion is slow and salary increase is not felt. Good thing is that i'm still enjoying my role in our company. And I guess that's more important than anything else. :)
ReplyDeleteOf course, yes :)
ReplyDeletePassion for me is the most important! If you hate your job and you are not enjoying it, it's hard to stay in a company. :)
ReplyDeleteWell, here's a piece of reality check, especially for those people who politicized their colleagues in the office. Though I admit, the second one hit me the most either. As much as I'm a nice guy in the workplace doesn't mean that I trusted them either, (unless either we're close or you're a good boss).
ReplyDeleteMaybe I should change ways either.
Reality check. This is very true and admit it almost all of us can relate to this. But as an OFW I'm not very particular in promotions as long as I'm doing my job and I'm getting the right salary. I'm all good! :)
ReplyDeleteHeya Balot, this is awesome! I can relate with the passion thing, which is the reason I quit from my corporate job for good! Got promoted 4 times while I was in the Middle East for 4 years but I think without passion you won't be happy! I love your other writeups too!!!
ReplyDeleteHahaha ,thanks Slick! Based on my experience, trusting and being personally connected are two very different things. I have had an experience in the past wherein a very trusted colleague stole something from me.
ReplyDeleteI think it is more on being professionally available to help people do their jobs easier or better? And also having a "personal connection" which means that you really know your colleagues personally and not just an email buddy whom you never say hello to when you see each other at the corridors ;)
I totally agree, Rem!
ReplyDeleteYes, I think that's the more important thing.
ReplyDeleteIt happened to me in the past wherein a staff asked me why they were still not promoted. The reasons I stated above could be one of the areas that they needed to improve in before that promotion takes place :) It's hard to break it to people though because sometimes they feel they have given it their 'all'. But then, there's always two sides of the coin. The employee's view and management's view. This needs to be aligned for things to happen, I think :)
aww i wish i still had my old blog! :(
ReplyDeleteHahaha Liz! Yeah, it's funny the things I wrote about before! Puro rants, nakakatawa! I was so relieved when I saw it. I just had to import it because my memory really sucks and it would be nice to have a trip down the memory lane <3
ReplyDeleteWhen I hear the word acupunture, my mind immediately thinks about the needles. I'm thi king od trying this but the problem is I'm scared of needles.
ReplyDeleteWhat an experience. Looks really scary but knowing that it really relieves some pain/stress after the procedure makes me want to try this. :)
ReplyDeleteIt's a bit expensive given that the effect is inconsistent... I think placebo effect is the right word. If the cost is less, I'll try it just for fun (and prove it also) :D
ReplyDeleteEver since I first knew about acupuncture and its benefit, I've been wanting to try it. But, there's no acupuncture spa in our area. I want to try the powers of those needles :D
ReplyDeleteOuchhhh! They looked like they hurt. Did they? I tried this once but not as many as this one. I believed with acupuncture though and its benefits.
ReplyDeleteHaven't tried acupuncture and I'm afraid of needles. What an experience you had right there. Thank you for sharing it with us.
ReplyDeleteHi Gracia, yes. All for the want to have a baby. Hehe :)
ReplyDeleteHi Angelo, no! Not at all! :) not even like a "kagat lang ng langgam" haha
ReplyDeleteHi Hazel. I travel from Paranaque to QC! But I like it because they are sisters who practice it. Helps me think that they also pray for me as well to have a baby :)
ReplyDeleteHahaha, well the first consultation was. But I have to disagree on the placebo. The friend who recommended it to me had problems sleeping and they stuck one needle on one side of her head and she was asleep, right off the bat! But I know that it is not for everyone. I've been through a lot of treatments because of my pregnancy problems and since women who have already conceived with its help attest to it, I figured, why not? :)
ReplyDeleteHi Yvonne, I would have not undergone through the process if I didn't need to. Haha. There are still other ways (and cheaper, hehe) like massage. I had to go through it for my fertility treatments :) But it was a nice experience! You should try it!
ReplyDeleteDon't be! It's totally not painful! :) It's probably just the thought of needles but it's so small, you won't feel a thing :)
ReplyDeleteHi Lauren, yeah. It is usually the thought of needles which scares people but in terms of the pain, I really didn't feel anything. Yung sa head yung more prominent but the feeling can be compared to that when you pull a strand of hair from your scalp :)
ReplyDeleteThis interested me for insomnia. I have a really hard time sleeping and I think this would help. Hope my mom would allow me to try this out. Thanks for sharing. I wish you all the best with this... tiwala lang. You'll have a baby soon :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Balot! You'll be awesome mom, travel again after giving birth! yay! x
ReplyDeleteHi there! I wanna try this one! :D Looks like you had fun :D yourdiamondintherough.weebly.com
ReplyDeleteyay! hooray to WAHMhood!
ReplyDeleteyeheyyy!!! :) thank you! :)
ReplyDeleteI am so anti social, that's the main reason why I am not as confident as others.
ReplyDeletehttp://hazelasoy.blogspot.com/
good luck on your new venture! I like number 4, specially that "take your dog for a walk" :D
ReplyDeleteYes, Coelho is definitely one of the best writers out there! Awesome post, too!
ReplyDeleteHi I'm planning to visit the store. Torn between sweet escapes - Makati and dough it all Bf- Homes. Do they have sprinkles, chocolates and many more baking ingredients? Thank you! :)
ReplyDeletewww.aezelcabrales.com
What a steal! btw love your bookshelf ;-)
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks Jess! :)
ReplyDeleteCool bookshelf! and I as convenient ebooks are, there's something more magical in an actual book
ReplyDeleteA great privilege Paulo Coelho himself re-tweeted your post. Nice collection too.
ReplyDeleteBy the way, I already have "Brida", "Eleven Minutes" and "The Zahir" all hardcovers and i bought them at a cheap price because of my book hunting. :)
I have decided, I wanted that bookshelf for our school library.. I will tell our principal to have that cool shelf! That's pretty affordable books too! You can't complain to that!
ReplyDeleteOmg. I love your book shelf! And I had to read this post again to believe that you bought those classics for just Php99?! Wow! I would definitely check out NBS again for these! :)
ReplyDeleteGonna replicate that on weekends. :)
ReplyDeleteCOOOOL!!!!!!! and your bookshelf is awesome! :)

ReplyDelete99 php.?! Is that a promo for a limited time only? I saw a similar bookshelf in Ikea SG. They're selling a similar style here already?
ReplyDeleteWhere did you bought your shelf? I'm dying to know.

ReplyDeleteAww shucks, thanks! hihi! :) Saw an inspiration in Pinterest, tweaked the design a little and had it customized in Tagaytay! For the books, yeah 99 bucks! I had to ask the attendant if that was a mistake! hahaha. Apparently, they have it in NBS and Powerbooks now. Go go go!!! :-)
ReplyDeleteThank you <3

ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!
ReplyDeleteHey Ernalou, appreciate you sharing this inspirational post to end 2014. I admire your honesty and wish you the best of luck this 2015. Happy New Year! :)
ReplyDeleteYour post is inspiring. I also wanna breakaway from the corporate world and just do what I love to do.
ReplyDeleteLooks like I'm gonna visit your blog more often. :)
I love your year in review post balot. :) i've done yoga in the past and this year, I actually want to go back to practicing it again and be more committed to it.
ReplyDeleteLiz! Where'd you go for yoga classes? I really want! Hahaha :)
ReplyDeleteHi Jon, thanks :) I never thought I could break away from corporate. I was just forced to because of circumstance. But so far, I am enjoying it :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Karl. Interesting blog by the way. I have always wanted to put up something similar to that since I have met a lot of really inspirational leaders when I was doing PR for Canon. Good job! :)
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, too!
ReplyDeletei agree with you..especially with the dog thing..they can be very entertaining and a god stress reliever...
ReplyDelete"Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life."
ReplyDelete^ i like that. Very great compilation of your past. Your post not just show what you've learned from your past but also teaches us readers.
Thank you for this and have a great new year.
i tried Yoga Plus. yogaplus.ph :) They have branches in Ortigas, Makati and Fort.
ReplyDeleteSeems like a great 2014 for you! Hopefully we'll have another great year for us this 2015 ^^ Happy new year :)
ReplyDeleteEvaluated experience is the best teacher! And you learned very well. :) I am in my early twenties and I still want to learn formally and informally many things like playing the violin or cooking.. They say that learning is only for the young, i feel old at my age now, but I am challenged! Life is more meaningful and colorful with the new things you have on your hand! Kudos for your very inspiring write up. :)
ReplyDeleteLoved the things you've learned but so far, I kinda hate the idea of writing for a living. Still maybe the guy upstairs is leading me somewhere which is why writing is relegated to a hobby and a way to hone skills, not as a way to earn income.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year po
Out of your 14 lessons, I can relate to "It is okay not to have many friends" since I am working here in Kuwait and not everyone is a Filipino, there are some culture differences, I find it very hard to deal with some of them. But thinking of my old friends back in PH, makes me realize that I have true friends waiting for me back there. :) Happy New Year! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Ernalou! Would love to do a collab with you for the podcast, do hit me up if you're interested. thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteAgree with many of these, and can relate to many of them, too, especially number 5! Dogs can teach us a lot about real love. :)
ReplyDeleteIf there is one thing that I am looking forward to you to have, that will be more blessings for 2015!
ReplyDeleteMore blessings to come. Happy New Year! :)
ReplyDeleteHi! your blog has fascinated me ! Started reading about your LIT experience since I have to go through that soon :-0 how was it for you ? worth it? still focus in make the "baby project" happen? In many, many ways I feel you are reading my mind when I read your posts..2014 it was also an interesting ride for me too...Regards from New Zealand from an argentinean :-)
ReplyDeleteHello! I am also waiting for a miracle to happen. My little girl is already 5 years old and now we are looking forward for a new baby. I stopped taking contraceptive pills last May 2014, it's already 2015 and I am not yet conceiving. Let's wait for the miracle, it will happen. :) God bless you and Edzel.
ReplyDeleteAnd
each month that it does not happen, a cloud looms over my head. The
wait is agonizing. - See more at:

Balot! I am so glad you enjoyed Sophie Kinsella's I've Got Your Number! :) I also wasn't able to put this book down when I read it. It's such a cute read!
ReplyDeleteHi! you have a very nice blog and i love how you write articles! :)
ReplyDeleteNice :)
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I'm not into romantic / love story books but i think Sophie Kinsella is a good one as the author's name and her book are most talked-about by literatis.
ReplyDeleteI'm reading 'Gapo' by Lualhati Bautista for this week :)
First time to hear about the book and it looks interesting. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteMe also! I had to finish it! Hahaha. Thanks Liz!! :*
ReplyDeleteI envy the breadth of your reading. :)
ReplyDeleteWow, it's great that you were able to join the book club. The books you mentioned are too girly for me though.
ReplyDeleteI love Sophie Kinsella and read all of her books including the one you featured. looking forward to more book reviews. I think we both like the same genre. :)
ReplyDeletei used to read books when i was young, its all about nature and facts, as i grew up my interest change gradually and i almost forgot reading books though i still encourage my lazy self to read even if im just waiting in a cafe rather than playing games on my phone. :) thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteGood books! :)
ReplyDeleteYou got me interested on the book by Kinsella for a 5 out of 5 rating. Thanks for sharing :)
ReplyDeletei envy you for reading lots of books...I should take time to rest and have some readings on topics like this :)
ReplyDeleteSophie Kinsella has always been one of my favorite authors. She mesmerized me with her love stories so I was really excited when I saw her name on your review.
ReplyDeleteCool, I would like to join you on reading sometimes. Will let you know when Im Philippines
ReplyDeleteYour blog transport me to another world :)
