Day 75: Sachi Pachachi

Share It Please

"Petting, scratching, and cuddling a dog could be as soothing to the mind and heart as deep meditation and almost as good for the soul as prayer." -Dean Koontz

I have had a lot of pets when I was a kid but never have I treated them with much gusto. Maybe because there were just too many -- I had rabbits (Giggles and her entourage of around 15); Bor, the monkey, more than twenty white mice, roosters and hens of my Papa, cats, dogs, a small man-made rectangular pond of mollies, guppies, and bubble and angel fishes, love birds, and well the unwanted gecko and lizards in the house.

It is just now that I adopted my own dog, who I raised since she was two months old. Pretty, not-so-little Sachi.

Sachi chose me more than I chose her. When I was about to adopt a dog, I was actually set to get her sister but this cutie curled up to me and I just could not resist.

Sachi is a Labrakita : a half-labrador, half-akita breed (Hachiko). She displays a labrador retriever's eagerness to be trained and a keen intelligence. Here are awesome trivia about Sachi Pachachi:

1. She is the most lambing (affectionate) dog ever. She will prop her head on the bed and turn her puppy eyes on you so you coud play with her.

2. She is a smart dog.

3. She loves Mcdonald's Crispy Chicken Sandwich <like me>

4. She is my personal alarm clock; wakes me up at 6:00 AM! Never fails!

5. She is sooooo fluffy!

Here are some information about rhis breed from www.designermixes.org --

Personality: The Labrakita is an intelligent and loyal dog who is easy to train with love and treats. They are cautious, yet non-threatening with strangers, immediately warm with children, affectionate towards family and the get along with other animals. They are somewhat capable of independence, or alone time when the house is noisy or full.

Family Dog: The Labrakita is great for exuberant play with other animals and older kids. They are tolerant of tail-pulling and being lain on by smaller children.

Shedding: The Labrakita is a heavy shedder all year long.

Grooming: The Labrakita requires major brushing during the spring/summer as they blows their coat twice a year and nominal brushing the rest of the year.

Behavior: The Labrakita is a mellow dog when nothing is going on and playful with dogs and older children. They like younger children and are extremely aware of weaknesses (like a broken leg or C-section). They typically will not jump on a person in pain or injured.

Barking: The Labrakita will bark at strangers, yet it can be difficult to teach them to "speak" on command. They do howl at trains and sound like "Chewbakka" during play with other dogs.

Exercise: The Labrakita needs long walks and time for fetching or playing with other dogs.

Physical Ability: The Labrakita is an energetic dog with plenty of stamina.

Sachi is our ultimate stress reliever. Now, I understand what it is to have a wonderful relationship with a dog. Indeed, they are man's best friend.
